Plans Re-Lodged With Clare County Council For Doonbeg Sea Wall

The future of a ten million euro sea wall at Donald Trump's Doonbeg Golf Course is back in the hands of Clare County Council.

An application for planning permission was referred to An Bord Pleanala in March but the planning authority has now ruled that the project isn't strategic infrastructure.

New plans lodged with the council contain a stark warning that 61 acres of dune frontage and the protected Augustior Snail will be lost to the dunes there by 2050 if the wall of rock armour isn't given the green light.

Consultants for Trump's Doonbeg Golf Resort say the business will result in a 38 million euro boost for the local economy over the next eight years.
