A North Clare town could soon be home to a second international supermarket if a new development gets the go-ahead.
Lidl has unveiled its plans for an over 2,000 square metre store featuring an almost 90-space car park on the outksirts of Ennistymon.
MKO Planning and Environmental Consultants have submitted an application on behalf of Lidl Ireland for a two-storey discount foodstore on the Lahinch Road at Deerpark West in Ennistymon.
If approved, the store, which would include an off-licence, would have a gross floor area of 2,261.4 square metres incorporating an internal plant room, storage area, chiller store, office area and staff rooms.
The vehicular entrance to the site would be on the Lahinch Road and the store would be served by an 87-space car park including four accessible bays, four family bays, two electric vehicle bays and eight cycle spaces.
The application states that two internally mounted illuminated signs will be erected as well as one totem pole mounted external sign and one poster board display.
Other aspects of the development include roof mounted solar panels spanning 907 square metres, an ESB substation and switchroom of 24.5 square metres, landscaping, a trolley bay of 69.7 square metres, bin storage and a loading bay.
The application includes a Natura Impact Statement and submissions must be made by February 2nd, with a decision due to be reached on the development by the local authority’s planning office by February 27th.
