The development is proposed for the second floor of the Clare Road Mall and would take up a floor space of over 820 square metres.

Drawings submitted as part of the application show the facility would include a dedicated free weights area, what’s described as a strength area, cardio and functional sections, a personal trainer’s office and a recovery area.

The plans also include a canteen, locker rooms, and showers and toilets, including wheelchair accessible units.

A noise and vibration assessment has also been submitted by Wave Dynamic’s Acoustic Consultants.

Based on a prediction of decibel levels in gym classes, weight drops and music, the assessment concluded that noise & vibration levels at the proposed gym will be capable of complying with all nearby residential and commercial noise sensitive locations.

Clare County Council is due to make a decision on January 14th, with the deadline for public submissions December 15th.
