Plans have been lodged to construct a canopy to protect walkers passing beneath O’Brien’s Bridge where falling rocks and stone have posed a serious risk.

A section of the O’Brien’s Bridge loop walk, which goes beneath the bridge, has been closed for a number of years due to falling debris, which is dislodged by passing vehicles on the road above.

Clare County Council has lodged a Part 8 planning application to construct a canopy there among other works, and allow the full walkway at the protected structure be opened again.
