Plans to change traffic arrangements in Limerick, which will force some residents in South East Clare to travel on longer routes to enter the city have been branded as ludicrous plans.
Limerick City Councillor john Gilligan is calling for a one-way system to be introduced over the Athlunkard Bridge, with traffic travelling away from the City Centre.

This would force inbound traffic from Clare communities like Westbury, Shannon Banks, Parteen, Ardnacrusha, Clonlara and Broadford to take a longer route when heading into the city.
Meelick Councillor Cathal Crowe says the idea needs to be dismissed.
