The HSE is seeking to expand the capacity of Clare’s CAMHS facilities.
Last year the county’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services received 412 referalls, with just five clinical rooms available to cater for appointments.
The Health Service Executive has now entered preliminary discussions with a view to reconfiguring its Quin Road site with nine bookable rooms, while a further ten clinical spaces are set to come on stream in the Spindle unit of St.Joseph’s Hospital in Ennis.
Additionally the HSE anticipates that the Inis Ghile facility in Parteen will become the permanent home of the East Clare CAMHS unit by March of next year.
Clare Independent TD Violet Anne Wynne says the developments will provide a major boost to both staff and patient care.
