2017 marks the centenery of the birth of Dr. Brendan O'Regan, and Clare County Council has called for a statue to be erected at the Airport to mark this milestone.
O'Regan established the world's first Duty Free shop at Shannon in 1957, and also drove the creation of the Shannon Free Zone, and previously Shannon Airport has said that it is preparing a tribute to him.
Sixmilebridge Fine Gael Councillor John Crowe thinks plans for a statue would be most fitting.
