The number of homes being given planning permission in Clare is now two thirds above pre-pandemic levels.
Figures from the Central Statistics Office show 358 houses and apartments have been given the green light in this county in the past year.
The more than 350 houses and apartments given planning permission in Clare between April 2021 and March 2022 is the highest in a 12 month period in a long number of years.
The four quarters before the pandemic saw 215 dwellings given the go ahead in this county, meaning this year’s seen a jump of 66 percent in approvals.
The pandemic saw quite a drop in construction activity in Clare and elsewhere due to restrictions, with this now appearing to be on the way back.
Of the 90 homes given the green light in this county between January and March of this year, just 4 of them were apartments.
Although it’s a slight drop on the 107 permissions given between October and December, it’s a 45 percent rise on the number of homes approved here in the first quarter of 2021.
