Upgrade works to a North Clare wastewater treatment plant could soon be delivered pending a planning application.
Uisce Éireann is seeking planning permission for a development which would see a number of improvements brought about at the Inagh Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The water utility submitted an application to the Planning Department of Clare County Council on June 5th for a development which would “provide for the upgrade” of the facility located in Carrowkeel West in Inagh.
Among the works proposed are the construction of a new by-pass channel at the inlet works, a new stormwater holding tank and new sludge drying reed beds.
The application, on which a decision must be reached by July 30th, also seeks permission for the construction of a new return pumping station.
All ancillary site development works, including hard and soft landscaping, are included in the proposal by Uisce Éireann.
Public submissions on the development must be received by the local authority by the 9th of August.
The application comes in a week when the water utility has announced another major development in North Clare wastewater infrastructure, in the €11 million Ballyvaughan Wastewater Treatment Plant due to commence construction in the coming weeks.
