The Kildare-based developer submitted an application on the 30th of June last year for a 300-unit development at Ballymacaula, Drumbiggle, Keelty and Circular Road in Ennis.

The plans consist of 159 townhouses, 112 semi-detached homes, 20 bungalows and nine detached dwellings, with 55% of the development being made up of three-beds while 30% would be two-beds, 10% would be four-beds and 5% would be one-beds.

Other elements of the proposal include a creche, footpath upgrades and the creation of a new vehicular entrance onto Circular Road.

On September 22nd of last year, Clare County Council requested further information from the applicant and this was sent in two months later on October 23rd.

The local authority has now granted planning permission subject to 27 conditions including that two units be omitted from the plans to allow space for car parking beside the proposed childcare facility.

The developer has signed a Part V Agreement with the Council meaning 20% of the development will be designated as social or affordable housing.
