Planning applications for a 25 million euro community hospital in Ennis are to be lodged before the end of this year.
The proposed 100-bed Community Nursing Unit would be situated on grounds adjacent to St Flannan’s College if given the green light.

The unit would include 88 single and 4 twin rooms, as well as 4 palliative care facilities, with funding earmarked under the HSE Capital Programme 2021.
Fine Gael Deputy Joe Carey, who has confirmed the move in a question to Minister of Health Stephen Donnelly, says if given the go ahead, the project will bring community care in Ennis ‘into the 21st century’.
