Planning Decision Due On Iconic Hotel On Clare-Limerick Border

The planning appeals authority is to decide on whether planning permission is to be given to convert an iconic hotel on the Clare-Limerick border into a convalescent home.

The case, involving the Two Mile Inn, has been referred to An Bord Pleanala after Clare County Council had initially granted permission to James and Anne-Marie Moore for the conversion to be carried out, as well as associated works.

The Two Mile Inn closed as a hotel in 2010, and two years later An Bord Pleanala rejected a separate application to develop a nursing home there, even though Clare County Council had previously given it the green light.

A decision on this fresh application is expected before the end of February.
