The soaring tones of the uilleann pipes will fill the streets of Ennis this weekend for what promises to be an especially poignant edition of a well-loved festival.
The 2025 Pat Broderick Memorial Tionól, which is an off-shoot of the Piping Heaven Piping Hell weekly uilleann piping session, began on Friday afternoon and runs until tonight.
Along with an extensive session trail featuring world-renowned pipers, the programme includes a Pipe Band Tattoo at 1:30pm today and as well as a concert in Lucas’s Bar at 7pm.
This year’s festival is the first without the legendary Cyril O’Donoghue who was a key part of the event, but festival organiser Blackie O’Connell suspects he won’t be far away.
