Petrol electric hybrids are on course to be the most popular vehicles in Clare this year.
Data from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry shows 671 vehicles with a petrol electric engine have been sold so far this year which is up 17% on the same period of 2024.

By contrast, just 562 petrol and 558 diesel engine vehicles have been registered in the county in 2025 to date, indicating drops of 16% and 24% respectively.
Director of the Society of the Irish Motor Industry Brian Cooke says the figures show it looks like it’ll be a record-breaking year for electric vehicle sales nationwide.
