Gardaí in Clare are urging pet owners to take extra steps to keep their dog safe following a surge in demand in recent months.
Clare’s Crime Prevention officer says that with increased demand for canines, comes opportunities for criminals to take advantage.

Sergeant Triona Brooks is warning that dogs can be stolen for a number of reasons including to sell, hold for a ransom payment or for breeding.
Sergeant Brooks is urging people to report stolen dogs to Gardaí immediately and to spread the word on social media, but she says taking a number of preventative steps is the best option for dog owners.
