There has been increased levels of the virus in recent weeks, with an outbreak at University Hospital Limerick, however that has since been eradicated.
The HSE's warning that Norovirus can lead to ward closures at hospitals, postponed operations or very serious illness for patients in hospital, who are already weakened by other medical conditions.
