Gardaí have issued a public appeal for information as they investigate a violent burglary at the home of an elderly South Galway couple.
Reports say an 80 year old man was assaulted after three men entered the property at Creggmulgreaney, Kilchreest at around 9:45 last night.

The man has been hospitalised, and while his wife was uninjured both are said to be traumatised.
It's understood that the intruders fled the scene with a sum of cash – Gardaí in Loughrea are investigating.
