The Irish Patients Association says it hopes plans to re-organise the country’s hospitals will result in a solution to what it describes as the ‘unacceptable situation’ which exists within the public health system.
The Cabinet is due to sign off on plans today – involving all 49 hospitals in six groupings.

Each will have an academic link to a University and contain at least one teaching hospital.
