Passengers Of Diverted Delta Flight Leave Shannon

Over 200 Delta Airlines passengers grounded in Shannon overnight, after their flight had to make an emergeny landing, are now en route to the US.

A replacement plane departed Shannon Airport after 3:00 this afternoon, nearly 24 hours after a Boeing 767 travelling from Milan to Atlanta was diverted to the MidWest having developed engine problems.

All 220 passengers and crew were accomodated in local hotels overnight.

Meanwhile a Lufthansa A 340 has divered to Shannon Airport this afternoon.

Fire crew were on standby but no emergency was declared – and the plane landed in the Mid West Airport due to a technical issue and is expected to resume its journey this evening.
