Passengers And Crew To Resume Journey After Plane Diverted Over Bomb Threat

Passengers and crew on board a United Airlines flight which diverted to Shannon amid an apparent bomb threat are due to resume their journey to the US.

Crew on board flight UA-971 which was travelling from Rome to Chicago yesterday afternoon declared an emergency, over what the airline has described as a “potential security concern”, and landed safely at Shannon at around quarter past two.

The 214 passengers and crew disembarked and were put up in a hotel overnight – they’re due to resume their journey later this morning.
