Shannon Airport recorded the highest level of growth of any Irish airport last year.

New figures from the Central Statistics Office, published today, show passenger numbers soared by 33% in 2023, with almost 1.9 million commercial passengers travelling through the Midwest airport, up from just over 1.4 million in 2019.

In the final quarter of the year alone, Shannon recorded a 15% boost in numbers, with over 420,000 people using the airport between October and December.

The Heathrow, Stansted and Gatwick services were the most popular routes out of Shannon last year, while Boston Logan recorded the highest number of transatlantic passengers from this county’s airport.
