The three main political parties will conclude their pre-Dáil gatherings today with discussions on next month’s referendums and the local elections next year.
Labour will also continue their push for an easing of the austerity in the budget.
Yesterday, Fine Gael discussed the budget in detail, with the Finance Minister Michael Noonan telling them the focus has to be on exiting the bailout.
And he said that will be his focus on deciding the size of the correction but it will not be more than 3.1 billion euro.
But, Labour’s pushing for a substantial reduction in that figure – especially keen that the area of education can be prevented from some of the planned cuts.
