Parents Warned To Plan Ahead And Expect High School Costs

The CEO of Ennis’ Credit Union is warning parents of school children to expect high costs, as September rolls around each year.

The Irish League of Credit Union’s annual survey has found that 71% of schools are now seeking a “voluntary contribution” from parents, on top of the average cost of sending a child to secondary school, which is now around 1,500 euro.

Almost two thirds of parents surveyed said back to school costs represent a financial burden for them, 24% of whom get into debt due to the expenses.
