12% of parents say they use moneylenders to cover back to school costs and a large majority describe the expenses as a 'financial burden'.

A survey for the Irish League of Credit Unions reveals that just under a third of parents say the costs impact on household bills, and even food.
The most expensive items are uniforms, books, school lunches, transport costs and voluntary contributions to schools.
