Family Carers Ireland says there’s a ‘palpable fear’ among Clare carers that they’ll enter poverty this winter.
It comes as the organisation is calling on the government to implement a number of measures in Budget 2023 to alleviate the pressure facing those caring for a loved one.
In their pre-budget submission for 2023, the charity is calling for the means test for the carers allowance to be scrapped, for the payment to be increased to €325 per week and for carers to qualify for the fuel allowance.
