Overcrowding at the region’s main hospital has fallen slightly today.
There are 53 patients waiting for a bed at University Hospital Limerick according to the INMO – 42 of these are in the emergency department.

It’s a drop on yesterday’s figure of 65 people on trolleys in Dooradoyle, and comes on a day when 242 people are in need of a bed in facilities across the country.
In contrast, the HSE’s own TrolleyGar statistics show 21 people waiting to be admitted at UHL.
