Overcrowding Persists At UHL With 123 Patients On Trolleys Today

The level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital remains more than double the number of the next busiest facility.

The latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show there were 123 admitted patients waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick during morning rounds, 46 of those in the Emergency Department alone.

It represents a slight reduction on yesterday’s figure of 131.

It comes the nurses’ union has recorded 65 patients on trolleys at Cork University Hospital; the next busiest facility, and 61 at Sligo University Hospital, while overall 669 patients were waiting for beds at hospitals across the country.
