Overcrowding Eases At Region’s Main Hospital

Overcrowding at the region's main hospital has eased today.

Figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show 23 people are waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick, 13 of those in the emergency department.

It follows an influx of patients last week which saw overcrowding at the highest level of any hospital in the country for three days last week.

Today's figures are in contrast to the national picture – 40 people are waiting on trolleys at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, while at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, the figure is 35.
