The level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital is continuing to ease.

The latest figures from the INMO show 37 patients were waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 18 of those in the emergency department.

It represents a steady drop from a record high of 80 earlier this week and comes on a day when 511 patients have been left waiting on trolleys at hospitals across the country.
