Figures released by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show 618 people were waiting on trolleys at University Hospital Limerick in August, compared to 458 in the same month in 2014.

The number of people waiting on beds at the Dooradoyle facility was the highest in the country yesterday, while there was a record high last month, with 56 people on trolleys in the emergency department.

Chairman of the HSE's Health Forum West, Councillor Tom Mc Namara has been telling me that the year on year increases cannot continue.
