The level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital remains almost double that of the next busiest facility, as the week begins.
The latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation shows there were 106 admitted patients waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 49 of those on trolleys or chairs in the Emergency Department.

The overall figure exceeds that of the next two busiest hospitals combined; Cork University Hospital and the Mater in Dublin, where 55 and 41 patients respectively were waiting on trolleys this morning.
596 admitted patients in all, were awaiting beds at Irish hospitals today.
