Clare TDs are reported to have claimed in excess of €848,000 in expenses and allowances since the 2011 General Election.
In total expenses to TDs have cost 24.4 million euro since the last General Election working out on average of 147 thousand euro per TD since March 2011.
Figures published in today's Irish Independent and Irish Examiner show Fine Gael's Pat Breen and Joe Carey have claimed almost 450,000 Euro between them in the last three years.
According to the reports the two deputies have claimed just over 220,000 each – while Fianna Fail's Timmy Dooley and Labour's Michael McNamara are recorded as having received approximately 200,000 euro.
The TD with the highest expenses claim is Fianna Fail's Michael Moynihan of Cork South West, who has received over 232 thousand.
This is due to the distance of his base from the Dail and an additional allowance for assistant whip duties.
The Irish Independent reports that just one in ten have to provide receipts for their expenses.
TDs can receive expenses payments and these are on top of their Dail salaries of over 87 thousand euro a year.
Only one TD, Eamonn Maloney of Labour, doesn't claim expenses, even though they are optional.
