Over €80,000 has been awarded to Clare groups for the purpose of protecting and restoring good water quality in river catchments.
Under the Local Authority Waters Programme, €856,000 has been distributed among 40 community groups in 19 counties.

Three groups in Clare, namely Restore Ballymacraven River Association CLG, Lough Grainey Nature Sanctuary and Shannon Town Community Wetlands, have received €51,036, €26,813 and €4,865, respectively.
It brings the county’s total allocation under the scheme to €82,714.
