Over €30,000 in Government funding has been granted to the Clare Local Development Company for maintenance of public walks.
Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary, has announced €465,000 in funding nationwide under the Walks Scheme Development Fund which facilitates the development and maintenance of key walking trails by private landowners.
The East Clare Way has received €9,890 for the purpose of trail surface works while €9,256 will go towards the Burren Way for upgrade of signage and mapboards.
A total of €8,025 has been given for trail upgrade works on the Wood Loop in Ballyavaughan, with the remaining €5,856 to fund trail works on the Blackhead Loop.
The CLDC’s total allocation amounts to €33,027.
