Over €130,000 in funding has been granted for water quality projects in Clare.
Six initiatives in this county are set to benefit from financial assistance aimed at enhancing local water bodies.
The Restore Ballymacraven River Association is the biggest beneficiary in Clare, receiving €35,000 for the second phase of works there.
The Carrigaholt Development Association will get €32,000 to further develop the Biosphere Park, while the Broadford Development Association will get €25,000 for conservation works on the Glenomra River.
An outdoor classroom with a biodiversity garden and river observation platform is set to be established in Ballyea, with a grant of €19,400 to the village’s development group also set to fund rewilding.
Tulla District and Coarse Angling Club is the beneficiary of €15,000 for mediation works on Lough Clondroney.
The Lough Grainey Nature Sanctuary meanwhile is to receive €10,000 for nature based solutions on the River Grainey.
Overall, Clare has been allocated €136,400 under the Local Authority Waters Programme, accounting for more than 13% of all funding nationwide.
