Over €1.5m of Clare’s commercial rates income was generated by profits from onshore and offshore wind energy last year.
The figures were revealed at the inaugural Energising Clare conference, hosted by Ennis Chamber and Wind Energy Ireland at the Temple Gate Hotel.
With 590 Gigga-Watt hours (GWh), Clare also produced the seventh-highest amount of wind energy of any county, which is understood to have saved over 200,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
Wind Energy Ireland CEO Noel Cunniffe says the benefits have been significant.
