More than a thousand people gathered in Tipperary last night calling for urgent action to tackle rural crime.

Farmers who have been the victims of robberies were among the organisers, who called for stronger trespass laws, electronic tagging and increased Garda resources.
Senior Gardai were present to hear contributions from dozens of victims of robberies who spoke of their anger and fear at becoming repeat targets.
Rural crime made headlines last week, when 7 men were sentenced to jail for the burglary of the home of Mark and Emma Corcoran in Tipperary in 2013.
