Over 800 Homes In Clare Remain Without Power Following Storm Jake

864 homes and businesses across Clare remain without power this lunchtime in the wake of Storm Jake.

The Enistymon, Miltown Malbay, Kildysart and Kilkee areas are the worst affected while there are a number of small pockets across the county which are also experiencing loss of power supply.

Two crews have been dispatched from Limerick and one from Nenagh to aid in efforts to resolve the situation, while a further two crews are enroute from Athlone.

ESB Area Manager for Clare, Robert Grimes hopes to have power restored to all areas by teatime this evening.

Meanwhile, winds of up to 130 kilometres per hour have been recorded at the Cliffs of Moher today resulting in the closure of the visitor centre there.

The visitor centre is currently being evacuated for safety reasonsand visitors are asked not to travel to the Cliffs today.

A low-level wind warning remains in place for Clare and across the country until 6pm this evening.
