A development at the home of the largest employer in East Clare is set to cater to more than 70 additional staff members.

In July of this year, US biomedical firm Beckman Coulter announced that a new €10 million investment would allow it to create 50 new roles at its East Clare base, with an additional 30 to come in the near future.

Following this, Beckman Coulter Ireland Limited submitted a planning application on October 3rd for the change of use of a section of its existing western warehouse at Lismeehan in O’Callaghan’s Mills to production.

In addition, it sought planning permission for the alteration of its existing boardroom to create access for new office space.

In the application, DRA Consulting Engineers state on behalf of Beckman Coulter that the proposed development will cater to an additional 72 staff.

On November 22nd, Clare County Council granted planning permission for the development subject to four conditions.
