Over 6,000 people left University Hospital Limerick’s Emergency Department last year without completing their treatment.
New HSE figures show 6,062 patients departed the facility across 2024 without being seen which is a slight decrease on last year and down 40% on 2022.

Of the 81,027 people who presented at the region’s main hospital’s ED, 3,400 were recorded as “did not wait to be seen”.
HSE Regional Health Forum West member and Westbury Sinn Féin Councillor James Ryan says everyone who attends an emergency department should expect to be seen.
