Over 600 new addresses were added to Clare’s housing stock last year.
The latest report from An Post and Táilte Eireann’s data analysis firm GeoDirectory shows the levels of residential vacancy in this county halved between October and December.
Throughout 2024, 641 new addresses were added to Clare’s residential dwelling stock, which is a 31% increase on the amount added last year.
At the end of November, the average house price here was €283,743 while a further 583 homes were under construction the following month.
According to GeoDirectory though, there were over 1,000 derelict properties in Clare, accounting for 5% of the national total at the year’s end.
The level of residential vacancy in this county has also dropped significantly, halving in the space of three months to 5.2%, but this is still marginally above the national average of 3.6% and is the tenth-highest rate in the country.
Of the over 60,000 homes currently in Clare, 88% are occupied, 6% are holiday homes and the remaining 5% lie vacant.
Leitrim had the highest residential vacancy rate last year at 11.8%.
