Figures published in today's Irish Independent finds that 45 out of every 1,000 drivers in the county have been detected driving under the influence between January 2004 and June of this year.
This rate is less than the national average, but the amount of drivers here caught with illegal drugs in their system is the seventh highest of any county.
Gardaí have caught 145 Clare motorists drug driving over the same time period.
