Outpatient appointments have resumed at Ennis, Nenagh, St.Johns, University Hospital Limerick and Croom Orthopaedic Hospital.
It comes almost three weeks after a decision taken by the UL Hospitals Group to defer scheduled care at the facilities in a bid to alleviate overcrowding at UHL.
In a statement to Clare FM, the UL Hospitals Group says “Inpatient and day case activity, as well as endoscopy services, are gradually being stood up and the resumption of scheduled care is being managed within available resources and is subject to daily review in line with an escalation plan.”
According to ULHG, This plan allows for reductions in scheduled care when there are significant surges in activity through the Emergency Department which present challenges in patient flow and adversely affect patient experience.
The Group goes on to say it regrets “when any patient has their planned procedure or investigation cancelled and that affected patients are contacted directly by our staff and are rescheduled as soon as possible.”
