The UL Hospitals Group has confirmed that outpatient and elective procedures at five Hospitals in Clare and Limerick will go ahead as scheduled on Monday, in the majority of cases.

It follows significant disruption to hospital services across the country, in the wake of a cyber-attack on HSE IT systems.

Hospital Management is also urging patients to consider their care options before attending the Emergency Department in Dooradoyle, which continues to operate, but is very busy today.

The HSE’s IT systems were targeted in the early hours of yesterday morning, and it could be a number of days before they’re restored.

It’s resulted in disruption to a number of services at hospitals across the country and the health service executive has warned that people should expect delays while hospitals move to offline processes.

Here in the Midwest, outpatient appointments and elective procedures will go ahead as scheduled in the majority of cases on Monday at Ennis General Hospital , University Hospital Limerick, Nenagh Hospital, St John’s Hospital and University Maternity Hospital Limerick.

The UL Hospitals Group is advising patients to attend for their appointment or procedure, unless contacted directly by the hospital and advised otherwise.

The Emergency Department at UHL is continuing to operate around the clock, but is very busy and non-urgent patients may experience significant delays, so people are urged to consider their care options and only attend the ED in the case of an emergency.

This includes family GPs or GP out of hours services, as well as the Injury Unit at Ennis General, which is open from 8am to 8pm.

The Maternity Emergency Unit is available 24-7 and the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit continues to operate an appointment only service.

The UL Hospitals Group expects services to be further disrupted early next week and is encouraging patients to pay attention to online updates, which will be posted on the HSE Service Disruption Website.
