An outgoing West Clare GP claims the implementation of Slaintecare has ‘faded into the sand’.
Kilmihil doctor Michael Harty is to hang up his stethoscope today after 37 years of service, though no permanent replacement for him has been found.

He served as an Independent TD from 2016 to 2020 and was a key figure behind the all-party Slaintecare report published in 2017.
Dr Harty believes that following a host of controversies, including two top officials stepping down from the programme’s implementation, politics is getting in the way of the plan.
