Over 40 million euro in funding has been granted for the project in the Government's Capital Investment Plan which includes the Killaloe bypass and upgrading works costing €16.6m on the road linking Ballina and Birdhill.
The project was given the green light by An Bord Pleanala in April 2013 but has been subject to judicial review after a number of environmental campaigners and locals expressed concerns over the project.
Killaloe area Councillor Michael Begley is hopeful that the project will be given the go-ahead today.
