Dublin Coroner's Court heard how Ultan's father Brian Hayes had bought the quad bike on the day of the accident, namely April 3rd last year.

That night, he was driving and Ultan was sitting behind him as a passenger when the quad bike went out of control and hit a wall.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, and other medical staff, Ultan later died of severe head injuries at Temple St. Children's Hospital.

His organs were later donated to three children and an adult.

Ultan's family were told he could not have survived his injuries even if he was airlifted to hospital in Dublin.

The jury returned a verdict of accidental death, and recommended that quad bikes be classified in the same way as motorcycles, requiring specific training and helmets.
