The organisers of a large-scale cycling event which had generated 2 million euro for the Clare economy have announced that they’re withdrawing their involvement.
IMG Challenger World, who ran the Sky Ride Etape Hibernia for each of the past two years, and had signed a five -year contract for the event, say they’re pulling out due to ‘business reasons’.

The Etape had attracted around 3,000 entrants over the past two years, and was Ireland’s only closed-road mass-participation cycling event.
Co-organisers Shannon Development and Clare County council have expressed disappointment, but say they will pursue plans for an alternative.
