Residents in Clare’s coastal communities are being urged to be on alert this morning, ahead of the arrival of Storm Diana.
Gusts of up to 130 kilometres per hour are forecast, and a Status Orange weather alert will be in place from 9:00 until 2:00.
People are advised to avoid exposed coastal locations, including along the Shannon Estuary, and motorists are advised to drive with care.
The Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre will also be closed from 9:00 until 2:00 due to the weather warning.
Local Authority crews, the OPW, the transport sector and the Coastguard are on stand-by to deal with any emergencies.
The Minister for Housing Eoghan Murphy says people need to exercise caution while the stormy weather continues.
