A “Mid-level” orange thunderstorm and rain alert has been issued for Clare this afternoon and evening.
Met Éireann is forecasting thunderstorms and very heavy showers producing significant accumulations over short time periods.

There’s warnings for the potential of flash flooding, very difficult travelling conditions with reduced visibility and power outages.
The alert, which also covers Cavan, Connacht, Longford, Westmeath came into force at 3 o’clock this afternoon and remains in place until 10 o’clock tonight.
